American Diabetes Association
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.

This is the National Institute of Health's Senior Health web site. There is a vast amount of knowledge on health related topics for seniors and their families. It is easy to navigate.

FDA Information for Seniors
This site provides numerous articles, brochures, and other publications with information for older people on a wide range of health issues, including ARTHRITIS, CANCER, HEALTH FRAUD, and NUTRITION. Some of the information is provided in Spanish also.

American Cancer Society
This nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization provides extensive information on preventing cancer and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.

The Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center Web site will help you find current, comprehensive information and resources from the National Institute on Aging.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
ALS is a motor neuron disease. Although the cause of ALS is not completely understood, the last 20 years have brought a wealth of new scientific understanding about the physiology of this disease.
